The Pays de la Loire Region has reaffirmed its support for the second phase of the ODDICEA project, which is aimed at making Daher’s Nantes facility a benchmark for Industry 4.0.
ODDICEA 2 seeks to build on the technological advances achieved so far in the ODDICEA project, as well as expanding digital benefits that enhance the site’s economic performance and accelerate the decarbonization of its thermoplastic composite production activities.
Toward this goal, the Pays de la Loire Region is granting financial aid of €500,000, representing one-third of the project’s total budget.
Tangible results from ODDICEA 1
The project’s first phase (ODDICEA 1, conducted from 2018 to 2023) enabled Daher to take a major leap forward in Industry 4.0. Co-funded at 40% by the Pays de la Loire Region, ODDICEA enabled the company to move from a robotic plant to a connected factory, delivering tangible results: a 10% increase in productivity at connected workstations; energy savings of approximately €10,000 per month; and a 10% reduction in CO₂ emissions.
These results received recognition, notably with the “Digital Revolution” award at the 2023 Future Enterprise Heroes Ceremony.
The project also strengthened Daher’s integration into the local ecosystem through collaboration with organizations such as IRT Jules Verne, an industrial and collaborative research center for manufacturing; and Astree Software, a key partner in the implementation of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
ODDICEA 2: accelerating the energy transition and enhancing competitiveness
With the Pays de la Loire Region’s continued backing, ODDICEA 2 builds on the achievements of the program’s first phase, further improving the Daher Nantes site’s performance while reducing its carbon footprint. This new phase continues the work of ODDICEA 1, with the internally-developed connectivity standard serving as the foundation.
ODDICEA 2 is structured around four main pillars: the first focuses on optimizing energy consumption through a real-time monitoring solution, along with efforts to eliminate carbon-based energy sources from the plant’s energy mix. The goal of the remaining three pillars is to enhance the use of industrial data and integrate advanced technologies to increase the site’s competitiveness.
A model of collaboration for a greener and more competitive Region
ODDICEA 2 is fully aligned with the strategy of the Pays de la Loire Region, which supports innovative and responsible companies. By encouraging Daher to continue its efforts in digitalization and energy transition, the Region actively contributes to both regional competitiveness and ecological transformation.
“We are proud to support Daher in this new phase and to help its Nantes plant remain at the forefront of the sector – a showcase of regional expertise and advanced industry, and a key player in the future of decarbonized aviation”
Franck Louvrier, Pays de la Loire Region’s Vice President in charge of Economic Affairs
“The Pays de la Loire Region’s renewed support will enable us to take a significant step forward by involving all stakeholders at the Nantes plant, which is a leader in Industry 4.0 within the Daher Group. Our goal is to provide every actor – from operators to operational management – with reliable, tailored tools for our processes, and to accelerate the decarbonization of our operations.”
Dominique Bailly, Research and Development Director at Daher
A transition to the industry of the future across the Daher Group
ODDICEA 1 already has delivered results across several of Daher’s industrial sites in France, particularly in terms of production management and connectivity. Building on this momentum, ODDICEA 2 also will benefit other Daher sites, with methods and tools that can be rolled out Group-wide.
This initiative reflects Daher’s ambition to anticipate the industrial challenges of tomorrow, while keeping people and performance at the heart of its transformation.
With the Pays de la Loire Region’s support, Daher reaffirms its ambition to become a reference in Industry 4.0 and in decarbonization, while generating benefits for its employees, local partners, and the broader region.
